Chapbook

Editorial

This project involves creating a chapbook based on Chila Kumari Burman’s essay, ‘There Have Always Been Great Black Women Artists’. Maintaining the historical and economical essence of chapbooks, I designed this 5.5*8.5 inch publication in stark black and white.

This aesthetic choice not only respects the budgetary constraints typical of chapbooks but also contrasts against the theme of racial issues, with white text on a black background drawing attention to the systemic racism and discrimination addressed in the text.
